Our club's story

Garstang Rugby Club, also known as ‘The Oaks’, was founded in the Royal Oak Hotel on 19 June 1995 by a group of local rugby enthusiasts and players wanting to put Garstang on the local rugby map.

During the early years, the Club was homeless and had to play “home” fixtures at Garstang High School and Lancaster University.

In 1998, the Club secured a lease on the same pitch we have today; which is located adjacent to the River Wyre to the rear of the Garstang Sports and Social Club.

In 2001, our home was renamed Hudson Park as a tribute to former Club President and playing stalwart Richard Hudson.

Since then, the once abandoned patch of land has become our home. It’s played host to some of the most memorable moments in Garstang Rugby Club’s history, and is ready and waiting for more to be made.
