Garstang Community Sports Hub

Who are we and why we need you?

Our Community Sports Club needs significant investment and redevelopment to provide essential sports changing rooms followed by much improved, modernised, significantly extended facilities for the whole community. With our first crowdfunding page we are raising funds for phase one of three phases. This phase will provide 4 large, modern changing rooms each with dedicated shower facilities and sitting alongside improved storage and access to all pitches. Phase one of three phases is to be delivered before March 2025, we are on track to secure the necessary funds but need YOUR help and fast!

Garstang Community Sports Club is a collection of five thriving local sports clubs consisting of Cricket, Rugby, Football, Tennis & Kayaking.

We have more than 1000 members and their families, many volunteers and supporters. More than a three fold increase in playing members over the last 5 years

We have the potential to unlock £280k from the council to help the much needed redevelopment of Garstang Community Sports club, to create a place that can be used by anyone across our community and surrounding areas.

The community culture and atmosphere at the club is vibrant and is driven by a strong sense of civic spirit within the 5 individual clubs and the wider Wyre district.

The 5 individual sports clubs have grown significantly over the last 3 years, and as such the facilities require the same growth to support the continued growth of the clubs.

The Community Sports Clubs provides the youth of the town with a choice of sports which help prevent crime and foster the love for sports and teamwork.

Garstang Community Sports Club has the largest youth membership in the whole of Rural Wyre, the redevelopment paves the way for more young people to join, grow and succeed.

These clubs are vibrant, friendly and welcoming, our members put diversity and inclusion at the heart of everything. Taking immense pride in catering to all irrespective of gender, age, and ability.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Garstang Sports Clubs have seen tremendous growth and development, particularly over the past seven or eight years, across all its clubs with more men’s, women’s and junior teams.

Unfortunately, the clubhouse and changing rooms, which are owned and managed by Garstang Community Sport Club, have not seen the same development and investment and are no longer fit for purpose.

We are fundraising to support Garstang Community Sport Club and raise the required funds to re-develop the existing clubhouse into a modern, welcoming area, and to also build a new six changing room block (plus associated officials changing areas) with a cricket viewing/social room in order to meet the minimum requirements of the governing bodies of our sports. Without this investment our clubs are at risk.

How we’ll spend the money raised

We have a target of raising a total of £60000 for this element of the fundraising project. If we as a club can raise £20000 from a minimum of 100 supporters, we hope to secure match funding of up to £10000 from Sport England. This money will be used as the starting point of Clubs contribution to the overall fundraising effort being managed by Garstang Community Sport Club.

The anticipated overall cost of the club house re-development and new changing room/viewing room block is circa £600k. Garstang Community Sport Hub have already secured £280k from Wyre Borough Council, as well as being delighted to a private donation of £50k. Including Garstang Community Sport Hub own money puts the current total in the region of £350k.

The remaining circa £250k is looking to be raise through large nationwide grant funding bids, private business donations and fundraising from the individual sports clubs who fall under the umbrella of Garstang Community Sport Hub
